The Palms Danceathon finally took place on Saturday, October 27, 2018. As expected, it was a morning of fun and music with dance and fitness coach, Kyneth, who led eager participants in several dance routines and exercises while DJ Smith kept the atmosphere electrified.
It was all in commemoration of cancer awareness month – the month of October, as the management of the Palms supported by Lily’s Women Centre. According to a statement from The Palms Mall, “Our goal is to join the global conversation around cancer while emphasizing early detection in a fun and supportive environment driven by dance and other energetic activity.”
A major feature of the Danceathon was the mobile screening van stationed at the grounds, courtesy of Lily’s Women’s Centre. Participants expressed their excitement at participating in the danceathon and also their appreciation to the organisers. The event ended with a speed dance competition which saw a participant win a scooter for her child. At the end, everyone agreed it was a Saturday morning well spent.
